John Mowry, Fort Fraser Chamber of Commerce signs the Nechako Watershed Council Terms of Reference to become a member. Action: Henry Klassen will use information discussed at the NWC meeting to form an agenda for the meeting with Western Economic Diversification Canada (WEDC) in Vancouver November 24, 2000. This agenda will be forwarded to WEDC so that they may prepare for the meeting.
Action: Henry Klassen will write a letter to member organizations of the NWC asking for a letter of support for a Water Release Facility at Kenney Dam. Organizations need to express in the letter the level of priority a WRF is for their community. Action: The NWC will send a delegation to Ottawa to meet with federal government ministers and deputy ministers as part of the Public Awareness and Support Program to gain support for a WRF at Kenney Dam. Decision: NWC will submit a short report, focusing on the recommendations, to NEEFMC no later than December 8, 2000. A full report with background material can be submitted later. Decision: The draft hydrograph and accompanying text will be submitted to NEEFMC in a report separate from the short report with the recommendations. Action: Glen Davidson, BC Environment will produce a hydrograph showing difference in volumes required with 14oC and 10oC water. Clyde Mitchell, Triton Environmental Consultants will provide information needed. Glen will complete as soon as possible and distribute to Council for input to Coordinating Committee’s discussion. Action: Richard Prokopanko, Alcan and Sandy Carpenter, Lawson Lundell will have report on hydrograph and text by November 24, 2000; to be distributed to all members. Members to respond with comments to Rick Krehbiel by December 1, 2000. Action: Rick Krehbiel, Lheidli T’enneh will have the four recommendations for the short report drafted by November 20, 2000. Rick will have a draft short report ready for distribution by November 27, 2000. Both drafts to be distributed to all members as they are completed.
Decision: NWC will hold a conference call on December 5 or 6 to discuss any outstanding concerns about the recommendation’s report to NEEFMC. Suggested Wednesday December 6, 2000 10AM Action: The NWC will submit $21,000 funding request to Wally Eamer, BC Environment for Jan –March 2001 and April 2001-March 2002 by this Tuesday, and give a letter to Minister Ian Waddell at Fraser Basin Conference next week. Henry Klassen, Joan Chess and Wally Eamer to draft letter. Action: Submit funding request for 2001-2002 to MEM by mid December; Wally to assist with preparing letter. Next meeting – approximately 3rd week in January 2001 in Smithers
