Friday June 23, 2000

Welcome –Henry Klassen, Chair, Nechako Watershed Council                

Decision: NWC accepts the minutes of NWC May 12 & 13, 2000 meeting with changes. 

Action:  Joan Chess will contact the Fraser Basin Council board member who is also part of Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) with the goal of having more involvement between the NWC and DFO.  Joan will also speak to David Marshall and Iona Campagnolo about ways to accomplish this goal

Action:  The minutes of NWC meetings will be sent to Donna Petrachenko, Jim Wild, and Peter Delaney. 

Decision:  The NWC will enlist the services of Vince McLain to put together a website to be launched July 1, 2000.  The budget for first year is $1200.  

Decision:  The NWC will purchase 2500 copies of Brochure as presented at meeting with a budget of $2500.  Members must send copy changes to Brochure to Carmen Karnapke by July 7, 2000. 

Decision: The NWC will purchase a tabletop display to be used at public gatherings as presented by Carmen Karnapke for cost of $455.00 

Action:  The Generic Presentation will be completed by Carmen Karnapke as an in-kind contribution by Alcan.  NWC members must give comments on Generic Presentation to Carmen Karnapke by July 7, 2000 

Action: Sabra McLain will assess how the display donated by the Vanderhoof Alcan office may be used by the NWC. 

Decision:  In the Briefing Note – Revisiting the Process for Developing a New Flow Regime Option 4) will not go forward. 

Decision:  The NWC accepts the Cold Water Release Facility Sub-Committee Report with changes. 

Action:  Rick Krehbiel and Joan Chess will write a draft outline for the Final Report to NEEF Management Committee.  

Decision:  The NWC elects Henry Klassen as Chair of the Nechako Watershed Council for the period of July 2000 to June 2001

Decision:  The NWC elects Jerry Petersen as First Vice-Chair of the Nechako Watershed Council for the period of July 2000 to June 2001. 

Decision:  The NWC elects Rick Krehbiel as Second Vice Chair of the Nechako Watershed Council for the period of July 2000 to June 2001. 

Decision:  The NWC elects Gary Gurnsey as Treasurer of the Nechako Watershed Council for the period of July 2000 to June 2001. 

Decision:  The NWC will renew the contract of Sabra McLain of McLain Services for Administrative Services of the Nechako Watershed Council for the period of July 2000 to June 2001. 

Decision:  The next meeting dates for the Nechako Watershed Council are: 

                        August 11, 12 & 13. 2000-Kitimat

                        September 29 & 30- Grassy Plains
