BUSINESS
MEETING 1)
Coordinating Committee – Election
of Chair and Vice-chair Decision:
Henry Klassen is Chair of the NWC for the period of June 1999 to June
2000. Decision:
The NWC creates the positions of First Vice-Chair and Second
Vice–Chair, with the intent that the first Vice-Chair will eventually become
Chair. Decision:
Jerry Petersen is the First Vice-Chair for the period of June 1999 to June 2000. Rick
Krehbiel is the Second Vice-Chair for the period of June 1999 to June 2000. Action:
Joan Chess to phone NWC Members Max Blouw from UNBC and Fort St James about
their membership. 2)
Minutes from the last meeting Decision:
The NWC accepts the minutes from May 28-30, 1999 meeting with the following
corrections (in Italics): ATTENDING:

$250.00 3) Budget and Finance Committee Decision: NWC will approach MELP about additional funding if the need arises in the future. Decision:
The Council accepts the Interim Statement of Revenue and Expenses as information Decision: The Council accepts the Proposed Budget for year ending March 31, 2000 as presented. Decision:
The NWC revises the Financial Management policy as follows: The Chair may
approve expenditures within the approved budget except where significant
variances need to be approved by the council; and will submit a semi-annual
financial report to the council. Decision:
At the recommendation of Ralph Roy the NWC will make a contribution of $250 to
Rhyme Time of Fraser Lake in lieu of a donation to the School District. Action:
The
NWC will send a letter of thanks to the School district for the use of their
school bus and include reference to the contribution. Decision:
Jerry Petersen will be added as a third signing authority for the NWC bank
account. 3)
July NWC meeting agenda Decision:
In preparation for the NEEF process, the NWC confirms its meeting date of July
16-18 in Vanderhoof. Decision:
In the context of information sharing and topics for the next two meetings, the
NWC will deal with topics downstream of the dam (including the Murray-Cheslatta)
as they pertain to NEEF mandate. It
is understood that reservoir fisheries topics will be scheduled for a meeting
later in the fall. Decision:
Gabi Matscha, Southside Economic Development Association will be given time at
the July meeting to update the NWC on more results of her survey of the local
use of the Cheslatta-Murray System. Decision:
Information on semi-aquatic fur-bearers in the Murray-Cheslatta System will be
presented to round out the information given on the semi-aquatic fur-bearers of
the Nechako. Action:
Joan Chess to contact David Marshall and consult with him as to the NEEF process
and what is expected of NWC. 5.)
Communications Committee Action:
The NWC will compile its activities or highlights for the past fiscal year to
include in the media release. Action:
Joan Chess to contact Iona Campagnolo, Chair, Fraser Basin Council about the
mistake written in the June 26, 1999 Prince George Citizen article stating
“NWC has $100 million to spend on environmental enhancement”.
Action:
Richard
Propopanko to write the next press release by July 2, 1999, with the following
subjects:

Trip to Kenny Dam/Cheslatta
Economic Issues Good News-Mike Green –Healthy river for aquatic fur-bearers

Communication with other groups Action:
The NWC will send a letter to all groups and individuals who receive the
minutes, inviting them to the next meeting; and asking if they wish to continue
receiving the minutes. Action:
As
requested by Wally Eamer, the Chair will invite those on the mailing list to
attend the presentation on resident fish at the July Meeting. Action:
