The NWC accepts the minutes of July 13 & 14, 2001 NWC meeting in Kitimat. Decision: The
NWC will recognize the contribution of $15,000 from Ministry of Environment,
Lands and Parks (MELP) in the Fiscal year 2001-2002.
MELP gave the NWC the option to do so when the contribution was made. Decision: The
NWC accepts the Financial Statements, Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2001 by Reg
Stowell, Sum-it Accounting as presented. Action: Henry Klassen will write a letter of thanks to Reg
Stowell, Kitimat Chamber of Commerce for his work completing the Financial
Statements. Action: Henry Klassen will write a letter to Sandy
Carpenter, Lawson Lundell thanking him for many years of time and service on the
watershed as he is moving on to new projects. Action: Mario
Feldhoff will ask Tom Henderson (Cloud seeding expert) to reschedule trip to
northern BC so that he may attend NWC October meeting and make a presentation. Action: NWC
will write a letter to Premier Gordon Campbell in response to meeting with
Minister Rick Thorpe in Victoria August 29, 2001 outlining workplan discussed
for building a Water Release Facility at Kenney Dam.
The letter will be distributed to members September 17, 2001 and a draft
sent to Minister Rick Thorpe for his review before a final copy is sent to the
Premier. Decision: A
sub-committee will be formed to work on Water Release Facility Workplan to be
submitted to the Provincial Government. The
sub-committee will include but is not limited to Wally Eamer, Rick Krehbiel,
Henry Klassen, and Richard Prokopanko. Action: The NWC submit a Water Release Facility Workplan to the Provincial
Government by December 1, 2001 Decision: NWC
will put on hold having BC Hydro make a presentation on alternate power sources. Decision:
Due to small attendance
and the possibility of a joint press release with the provincial government the
NWC will not issue a Press release for the September 2001 meeting.
Decision:
The next meeting of the Nechako Watershed
Council will be: October
19 & 20, 2001 Smithers November 30 & December 1, 2001
