Welcome and Introductions Henry Klassen welcomed all
to Smithers. Business Meeting Decision: The
NWC adopts the agenda with changes. Decision: The
NWC accepts the minutes from the September 17, 2004, meeting in Smithers, as
presented. Decision:
The NWC accepts the Interim Financial Statements
for the 6 Months Ending September 30, 2004, as presented by Daryl Manwaring. Nechako
Enhancement Society Update Gord Enemark and Richard Prokopanko gave an NES update of the CWRF Year 2, 3 and 4 activities. Potential
Power Generation at Kenney Dam Don Timlick gave a presentation regarding potential
power generation at Kenney Dam. Flow
Regime NWC Consultant Kristann Boudreau went through the first draft of her
Phase 1 Report, Assessment of
Potential Flow Regimes for the Nechako Watershed; incorporating changes made by
the Council members. Action: NWC
members to get comments on the first draft of Kristann Boudreau’s report to
her by December 3, 2004. Action: Kristann
Boudreau to prepare the second draft of her report by December 17, 2004 for
distribution to the NWC. Action: NWC
members to get comments on the second draft of Kristann Boudreau’s report to
her by December 28, 2004. Action: Kristann
Boudreau to provide the final draft of her report to the NWC by January 14,
2004, for review at the next NWC meeting in Smithers, February 11, 2004. Nechako River White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative Justus Benckhuysen presented a draft of the Nechako River White Sturgeon
Recovery Initiative Team’s Flow Principles to Guide Nechako River Hydrograph
Development, as well as an update on the projects the Recovery Team is working
on. NWC Issues Richard Prokopanko brought forth two new issues for the NWC to consider:
Mountain Pine Beetle Epidemic as it affects the Nechako Watershed and
Wild Fire Impact on Nechako Watershed. Action: NWC
to investigate the Mountain Pine Beetle Epidemic as it affects the Nechako
Watershed. Action: NWC
to investigate Wild Fire impact on the Nechako Watershed. Trafford Hall made a presention on Alcan Power Sales from a District of
Kitimat perspective. Decision: The
next meeting of the NWC will be February 11, 2005, in Smithers at the Hudson Bay
Lodge. Action: Richard Prokopanko will prepare a press release including the work on the Consultant’s Report, Nechako Reservoir Status, NES Update and Funds Allocation. (Was there to be something about the Sturgeon Recovery Update as well?) Joan Chess gave an update on the upcoming 2004 State of the Fraser Basin Conference |
