Welcome and Introductions

 Henry Klassen welcomed everyone to Smithers.

Business Meeting

Decision:  The NWC adopts the agenda with changes.

Decision:  The NWC accepts the minutes from the February 17, 2006, meeting in Smithers, with changes.

Richard Prokopanko presented a proposed Communications Plan to the Council for their input.

Action:  The NWC will form a committee to work on high priority items, identified by the Council, on the Communications Plan.

Don Timlick gave the reservoir update.

Decision:  The NWC accepted the Interim Financial Statement for 12 months ended March 31, 2006, as presented.

Decision:  The NWC accepted the Proposed Budget for the 2006/2007 Fiscal Year as presented.

Ron Robichoud, Huckleberry Mines, addressed the Council regarding the logistics for the Saturday, May 13, NWC field trip to Huckleberry Mines. 

Report on Letter to MLA’s

Henry Klassen gave a report on the letter that the NWC sent to all MLA’s and discussed plans for a 2nd letter.

Action:  NWC will table drafting of 2nd letter to the MLA’s until the Benefits Summary Report is completed and released.

NFCP/NWC Future Roles Update

Don Timlick gave a brief report.

Canfor Presentation

Darryl Bokvist, Canfor –  Vanderhoof area, gave a presentation regarding harvesting of Mountain Pine Beetle killed timber.

Flow Regime Workup

Joan Chess presented an update on Work on Flow Regimes.

Nechako Enhancement Society Update

Rod Bell-Irving and Don Timlick gave a Nechako Enhancement Society Update

Action:  When reports following recent NES workshops are available they will be distributed to all NWC members.

Sturgeon Recovery Initiative Update

Dan Bouillon gave an update on the work that the Sturgeon Recovery Team is currently engaged in. 

Action:  Richard Prokopanko will draft a press release following the May 12, 2006, NWC meeting in Smithers to be approved by the Coordinating Committee and then released to the media.

Decision:  The next meeting of the NWC will be Friday, September 22, 2006, in the Burns Lake/Grassy Plains area.
