Welcome and Introductions - Henry Klassen, Chair, Nechako Watershed Council

Business Meeting

Decision:  The NWC adopts the agenda with changes.

Decision:  The NWC accepts the minutes from the January 16, 2004, meeting in Smithers, with changes.

Action:  Carmen will prepare a statement following every NWC meeting.  Council will decide at the end of each meeting whether it will be a statement or a press release.

Action:  Daryl will contact all newspapers and radio stations along the Kitimat to Prince George route to get an updated list of contacts.

Action:  Richard Prokopanko will prepare a NWC update of activities communications draft to be presented at the next NWC meeting.

Action:  Daryl will re-draft the 2004/2005 Budget and send out to Coordinating Committee for presentation at the next NWC meeting.

Action:  The NWC accepts the invitation to have a booth at the Managing for Tomorrow Conference.

Action:  Henry will contact the organizers of the Managing for Tomorrow Conference and offer to give an oral presentation at the conference on behalf of the NWC.

Nechako Enhancement Society Update

Gord Enemark and Clyde Mitchell gave a NES update of the CWRF Year 2 and Year 3 Activities.

Action:  The NWC will write letters to the appropriate people in the Provincial Government to provide an update and strategic report on NWC activities.

Action:  Gord Enemark will identify appropriate contacts within the Provincial Government and report back to the NWC.

Flow Regime

Action:  Joan will re-draft the Flow Regime Principles based on the NWC’s suggestions and redistribute to the NWC for discussion and approval at the next NWC meeting.

Action:  Flows Committee will meet with BC Hydro staff to seek advice and assistance on preparing NWC Flow Regime Report.

Action:  Flows Committee will investigate funding options for producing a Water Use Plan for the Nechako Watershed.

Action:  Flows Committee will link Flow Regime Report to Benefits Assessment.

Future Roles

Henry gave a brief report on the Future Roles Committee activities.

Decision:  The NWC will produce a statement and not a press release following March 26, 2004, meeting in Smithers.  

Decision:  The next meeting of the NWC will be June 11, 2004, in Southbank.
